Not medical advice or a crisis service. This website is not a substitute for professional medical or mental-health care and does not provide emergency services. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, please call or text 988 right now (free, 24/7). In an emergency, call 911.

1. Who we are

Unbreakable Men ("we", "us", "our") operates unbreakablemen.com, a free mental-health and personal-growth platform for men, based in Arlington, Virginia, USA. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with and how, and how we protect it. By using the site you agree to this policy.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us:

  • Contact form: your name, email address, phone number (if you provide it) and your message.
  • Share Your Story: your first name, email address, the story you write, and whether you give permission for it to be shared.
  • Chat "talk to our team" form: your first name, email address, phone number (optional) and message. Questions you type into the site guide are answered in your browser and are not stored by us.

Information collected automatically:

  • Technical data such as IP address, browser and device type, pages visited and the date and time of your visit, recorded by our hosting and security provider.
  • Your approximate country (worked out from your IP address) so we can show the crisis line for where you are. We do not collect your precise location.

Information kept only on your device: your assessment answers and scores, program progress, community location and site preferences are stored in your own browser (local storage) and are never sent to us.

We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, payment details, government ID numbers or medical records.

3. How we use your information

  • To reply to your messages and give you the support you ask for.
  • To review stories before anything is published. A story is published only if you gave permission, only with your first name, and only after we edit out identifying details. Stories that contain crisis language are never published; we may reach out to you with support resources instead.
  • To send you emails or text messages you asked for (see section 4).
  • To show the right crisis line for your country.
  • To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and fix problems.
  • To improve our programs and website, using aggregate information.

We never sell or rent your personal information.

4. Text messages (SMS)

If you give us your phone number and agree to receive text messages, we use it only to reply to you and send the messages you signed up for. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP at any time to opt out, or HELP for help. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party, except the messaging providers that deliver our texts.

5. Who we share information with

We share personal information only with the service providers that run the site for us, and only as much as they need to do that work:
  • Cloudflare — website hosting, security, and the database that stores submitted stories.
  • Our CRM provider — our contact-management system, which receives form, story and chat submissions and sends our emails and text messages.
  • Google Workspace — our business email, used to read and answer your messages.
  • Email and phone carriers — which deliver the emails and texts you asked for.

We may also disclose information:

  • if required by law, subpoena or other legal process;
  • when we believe in good faith that it is necessary to protect someone's life or safety, or to prevent fraud or abuse of the site;
  • to a successor organization if Unbreakable Men is merged or transferred, under the same protections described here.

Approved stories are shown publicly on the site, with your first name only and identifying details removed.

6. How information is transmitted

Information sent to our service providers travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) through their secure, authenticated interfaces. These providers process it on our behalf under their own terms and privacy commitments, and may not use it for their own marketing. We do not send personal information by unencrypted email attachments or post it anywhere public, other than approved stories as described above.

7. How we protect your information

  • The whole site is served only over HTTPS with modern TLS encryption.
  • Our hosting and contact-management providers encrypt stored data and run industry-standard physical, network and access security.
  • Access to submissions is limited to authorized team members using password-protected accounts.
  • Story review links are private, single-use and expire after 7 days. Stories flagged for crisis language can never be published.
  • We collect as little as possible: assessments, progress and preferences stay on your own device.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you as required by law if a breach affects it.

8. Cookies and local storage

We use your browser's local storage, and a small number of cookies set by our hosting and security provider, to make the site work, remember your preferences and protect against abuse. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block these in your browser settings; some features may not work without them.

9. How long we keep information

We keep form and chat submissions for as long as needed to respond to you and for reasonable record-keeping. Stories that are not approved are deleted or kept only as long as needed for review. Data stored in your browser stays there until you clear it.

10. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to remove a published story, by emailing support@unbreakablemen.com. You can unsubscribe from emails using the link in any email, and reply STOP to any text message to stop texts. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor them.

11. Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be posted on this page.
